Rolling Up Your Jeans Is Officially Out

screen-shot-2016-10-29-at-7-36-01-amWe’ve been talking a bit around here about Khloe Kardashian’s new denim line, Good American, and there’s one thing about all the styles that I noticed belatedly: none of them has a rolled cuff. And then I got to thinking, I haven’t seen a rolled cuff in a MINUTE.

Here at ESD, we’ve devoted entire posts to the different ways to roll the cuff of your jeans. But that was back in 2010/2011, and here we are in late 2016 and no one is rolling their jeans anymore. OK maybe not no one—we featured a roll or two just earlier this year. But the trend has significantly waned. It’s one of those things that gradually seeps into the collective consciousness of a nation and then suddenly, everyone is doing it—or not doing it as in this particular case.

In an interview with People, Good American Co-Founder Emma Gede and Khloe reminisce about Khloe’s denim styles over the years, going back to the days when her now—supermodel sister was just a kid. The rolled looks did not get favorable reviews, and they do indeed look quite dated.

“It’s a very special thing to be able to do,” Gede says of the rolled looks. Indeed. I also stopped rolling my jeans (most of the time!) at some point in the last five or six years and didn’t even realize it.

Do you roll still your jeans, trends be damned? We’d love to hear all about your rebellious ways.
