The typical denim shirt is a worker style button up with a collar. Picture a laughing J.Crew model arm-in-arm with a square-jawed partner—that’s what I imagine every time I think of a denim shirt and I’m guessing you, too.
But these surprisingly feminine shirts—blouses, if you will—will change the way you think about a denim top. The designers represented below put a decidedly feminine spin on the garment, with ruffles, cinched waists, pussy bows, corsets and strategically exposed skin.
Two of the tops are chambray, but we accept their submissions nonetheless.
I really love seeing the creative things designers make out of denim. Just when I think I’ve seen everything, an all-in-one white button-up shirt with an attached denim corset comes on the scene. Life is beautiful.
