They make me feel quite nostalgic, actually, because in the ’80s the double yoke was very on trend. I had a pair of pleated Zena jeans that incorporated the V-shaped stitching that comes to a point at the zipper cover. They were my absolute favorites and they’re the jeans I remember wearing the most in high school. I also coveted a pair of Girbauds that incorporated the double yoke.
But you have to go back much further than the ’80s to discover the origin of the double yoke. According to Harper’s Bazaar, “This style was first popularized in the 19th century, seen on prairie blouses and gathered skirts.”
