When I think back to the denim styles I wore as a kid growing up in the 1990s, the most prevalent image that comes to mind is myself in a crew-neck t-shirt and baggy, carpenter-style overalls from Gap Kids. I absolutely loved them. Even at age 10 I wanted to be on top of fashion trends, and at the time – I totally was.
Flash forward to today, to a landscape of super skinny jeans, the ‘70s flare revival and hot-to-trot short-shorts. Many of us take care to find denim that is flattering, fitted and feminine. Then there are the easy, breezy, women who manage to look cool and current in slouchy boyfriend fits and – gasp – overalls! It’s inspiring and refreshing. With the rise of rompers and jumpsuits, I suppose it was only a matter of time before this one-piece denim look made its way back, and I think I like it.
Will you be tapping into your inner ‘90s child and bringing back denim overalls?
