Faux Fur Vest

This November has been gorgeous in New York City. Gor-geous. The weather has been so great that wearing items like this faux fur vests for the days when it’s chilly out, but too cold. Growing up in Southern California, I always longed to wear things like faux fur, hats, scarves, gloves, heck, even boots… You can wear them, but not because you need to wear them (it’s different when you need it). I was out taking photos with my friend Monica from Ciao Chessa! who recently had a baby and has truly kept her sense of style. I’m beginning to wonder if the “Mommy Look” is a myth!

We were talking the other day about wearing heels in the city. I’ve noticed a lot of women wearing skinny jeans and brown riding boots. Hardly anyone actually wears heels (contrary to the photos you see on the internet) Most everyone in the city walks around in flats, flat boots, which now come in some nice riding boots and lace-up booties. Both of which go perfectly with jeans. Horray for denim!

Jennine! what a fabulous day we had yesterday. Looking forward to seeing my photos of you on The Coveted and Ciao, Chessa! later this week! It was indeed the perfect day for a fun and fabulous faux fur vest. I’ve loved this look for ages and now that it’s a trend I’m wearing it all the time. I’m milking this beautiful fall weather for all I can get bc in no time I will be wearing this vest with 8 different layers underneath it and probably something over it too.

As for that scarf…I’ve had it for years! It was a gift from my mom on a trip to Paris. I only wish that I had another one bc I love it so much and have worn it every fall and winter for the last nearly 10 years.

I Grew up in NY…but after I moved back to NYC from LA in 2008 I realized my heels had to retire. I just wrote about this on Facebook…I wore flats out to a bar on Friday and didn’t feel “Dressed up” at ALL. I am reevaluating my shoe collection after I get back from Thanksgiving in southern Florida. I think it’s high time I add a few wedge booties to the mix 🙂

I have heard Cole Haan Nike Air heels collection is something a NY gal MUST have!

Jennine, I’d love to hear you expand on the flat (or flat-ish) shoe/boot and jean combination. By flat-ish, I mean a couple of inches you’d find on a riding or cowboy or biker boot, still very walkable. I live on a ranch and if I wore stiletto booties, I’d get stuck in the mud.

Alanna…oh yes, the wedge really helps, there are heels you can walk around in, it’s just finding the right pair…

Denise, I’ll do it! I have been trying to find heels so much, but I do have a few pairs of flats that work!
