This site is accurately named but for one detail … we also DREAM about denim! One of my favorite exercises after each collection wrap up is to cull denim inspirations – and hope someone actually makes this stuff! So in addition to Taylor’s Resort Report featuring real-life denim, here’s my dream list!
Textured Denim Detailing: The micro-detailing shown at Altuzarra, as well as the texture-print hybrids at Tory Burch and 10 Crosby Derek Lam seem ideal for denim translation. I would die for a tufted denim pencil skirt!
Long Denim Overcoat: More and more, the designers are using the Resort collections to more realistically dress their clients for Pre-Spring (it’s a rare few that “resort” anyway). I’m always looking for a lighter weight overcoat that time of year. A denim version inspired by Celine or The Row would be ideal – and Rachel Comey’s created the real thing in soft washed denim. Sign me up!
Soft Denim Suiting: Suits just seem right lately, and here at ESD we’re not afraid of head-to-toe blue – but it’s refreshing to see these inspirations in softer silhouettes from Acne, Theykens’ Theory and Rachel Comey. My dream ensemble? A chambray shirt in a tank silhouette, with nearly-matching straight leg jeans.
Do any of these trends strike your fancy? Is there a piece in your wardrobe you wish you could duplicate in denim?
