How do you take your thigh high boots? Showing some leg in a cute mini skirt, no leg with a knee-length skirt, or super comfy with some black leggings? Personally, none of the above. I envy the look on others, but when it comes to thigh high boots I think denim is a perfect match. But that’s me again trying to find an excuse to wear denim with everything. Here are a few quick pointers for wearing this season’s hottest accessory: thigh high boots — with denim, obviously.
1. Wear with skinny jeans
Jeggings, while I’m not crazy about the term, are like how they sound. Denim leggings. Super tight, and just as importantly, thin, high stretch denim works wonders under a pair of coverall thigh high boots. Make sure they strangle your thighs. Sounds dramatic and slightly uncomfortable but it’s not. These 7 for all Mankind Slim Illusion Skinny Jeans would be perfect.
2. Hold the detail
Moto jeans, zippers, embellishment — these are all some of the season’s hottest denim trends but they have a place, and it’s not with your thigh high boots. Not only can embellishment like zippers be painful, but they’re chunky and honestly a waste of details since your boots will be covering them. And it could get pretty busy as well. Remember, all eyes on your amazing long legs. and boots.
3. Match your colors
As Jennine mentioned, tone on tone is in. While it’s very possible to pair light blue jeans and dark black boots and look hot as can be … if you’re just starting off with pairing the two together, stick to similar colors. Dark grey, black and dark raw denim blue look fabulous with black boots. Same thing with grey boots. Pair your grey boots with lighter blue denim, so it’s a subtle contrast and not too bold.
Or, #4, if you don’t feel like wearing thigh high boots and denim but like the look, just try these! They’re on sale too.
