I hope everyone had a wonderful and perhaps festive weekend! Maybe you donned your red party jeans and sipped champagne with friends, or purchased a pair of selvedge denim to put under the tree for the man in your life. I did a little celebrating and a little shopping, but also a lot magazine and blog browsing. I was looking for inspiration for this coming week, and for more ways to wear the jeans I already have. I feel like I saw so many editorials and concept posts about “winter whites,” but when it came down to it, no one wearing an all-white look that was actually wearable.
I took it upon myself to see if a head-to-toe white look could be a sartorial reality. As it turns out, I don’t really think it is. White-on-white-on-white is just too much. I think the key is to go mostly white (and off-white) and sprinkle in some soft neutrals to take the stark edge off. I paired these Hudson flares with my roommate’s Irish fisherman’s sweater, a faux fur vest and wedge booties. Oh, and just about every other cream winter accessory I could find in my closet. Go big or go home, right?
Though wearing this much of one color can be intimidating at first, I thin this is a fresh and fun way to get more wear out of your white jeans. If sporting your flares feels like a bit too much, stick to your skinny jeans (like in this post), add a super soft scarf like this circle wrap, and a cream top or sweater like this one from Funktional Arctic.
Do you think you’ll try out a mostly white look this winter? How do you get more wear out of your warm weather pieces?
