Denim Tips: Rocking The Texas Tuxedo… in Vermont

As I mentioned in my post from Friday, I was lucky enough to jet up to Vermont last week for a quick little trip to the mountains. One of my compatriots amongst the fall foliage and pumpkins was Jess Graves, who writes one of my favorite blogs – The Love List. It was one of those things where we’d been Internet friends for a while, and (thank god) got along just as well in real life.

Jess lives in Atlanta, Georgia but hails from the great state of Texas. Perhaps it was only fitting then, that she brought that classic denim-on-denim look, affectionately known to some as “The Texas Tuxedo” to Vermont. (It should be noted that we were also just shy of the Canadian border, so this could be a “Canadian Tuxedo” too.)

I love how Jess’s denim-on-denim look is a little more dressed up, with tights under her denim shorts and a navy blazer to top everything off. Get the look with Club Monaco’s ‘Celeste’ denim shirt, Genetic Denim’s ‘Lost Boy’ shorts (on sale!), Commando Opaque tights, and some western-inspired or straight-up cowboy boots.

So do you call it a Texas Tuxedo or a Canadian Tuxedo? Jury’s out over here…

I like the look. When it gets really cold exchange the shorts for skinny jeans.
