Denim Tips: New Years Eve Denim 2 Ways

As you can probably tell from the scenery above, Eat, Sleep, Denim has relocated for the holidays. I’m out west in Sun Valley, Idaho with my family for a week of winter sports, catching up with friends and a whole lot of denim-wearing.

I’ve spent every New Years Eve in Sun Valley since before I can even remember, and it’s always a night to remember. I feel fortunate that this year is no exception, and I can’t wait to bundle up and boogie down until the wee hours. Oh yeah, did I mention the temperatures drop into the negative after dark here?

Under all the inevitable layers of down, hats, mittens and scarves, I’m thinking of doing NYE denim one of two ways:

1. Keep it simple with denim leggings and boots – Sometimes a no-fuss look is the best option to feel comfortable and cute on such a glam holiday. Since things can be downright casual out here (and I’m in Idaho, for goodness sake) I’m rocking my cowboy boots. By pairing them with more city-chic items like a silk blouse, fur stole and animal print clutch, I’ve got just the right balance of dressed up and down.

2. A little black dress with a denim shirt –  When worn open over a little black dress, the denim shirt becomes the perfect layering piece for a fancier NYE occasion. Pile on the jewels and kick things up a notch with wedges, and I’m good to go. That is, if I don’t slip and fall on a patch of ice in my heels.

What will you wear for NYE? Do you dress up, dress down, wear a dress? I want to know!
