First of all, let me say Happy Labor Day to all our American readers. I hope you’re enjoying the day off, sitting in a hammock somewhere, dreaming of the cooler days to come.
I may not be in a hammock (Does anyone know where I could find one in Manhattan?) but I think I am finally ready to make my peace with the end of summer and greet the fall. And what says Fall more than a cozy sweater? Much like Liz Lemon on 30 Rock, I love ‘sweater weather;’ that glorious-and-rare temperature when you’re perfectly comfortable in a sweater and no jacket.
This fall, a lot of trends are shifting back to traditions, hence the resurgence of the cable knit. It’s a weave that’s been around for ages, and looks fresh this season in a bright hue (like this Milly coral hue or Le Mont St. Michel red) or a neutral oatmeal.
Working a cable knit into your wardrobe really couldn’t be easier. Pair it with skinny jeans, riding boots and a silk scarf for an East Coast equestrian look, or push up the sleeves and tuck it into high-waisted flares with a brown belt for an easy 1970’s vibe.

I do love a cable knit sweater – already getting excited about getting my favourite one that my mum bought me last Christmas out of the top of my wardrobe where it’s been hidden away all summer!!! 🙂
