What do you wear shopping?

Shopping. I love shopping online, shopping in real life. I love shopping for clothes, for food, housewares, for beauty products, random whatnots. For all kinds of goodies. While shopping at home doesn’t require any strategies for getting dressed, going shopping in real life does.

One day, while I was sitting out in the shopping district of my town, I noticed most people were dressed casually, in simple clothes, that didn’t need a fuss. Sure most people wear simple clothes because that’s what they wear, but I wonder if that’s also part shopping strategy. Have you ever been shopping in lace up boots? Or a dress that zips on the back? Sucks. For me, half the battle is just getting a good pile of clothes worth the getting undressed to try on. Or when it comes to shoes, once I take off my shoe, I try on the whole store. Wearing a finicky outfit can make me more reluctant to give things a try.

Here, a lovely shopper is wearing a wonderfully chic and classic outfit, that’s perfect for shopping. Ballet flats for easy walking, and slipping on and off, a classic t-shirt that works well with layers, a blazer, and of course dark skinny jeans. The perfect building blocks for a wardrobe.

Honestly, I never thought much about it, but it’s true, I dress differently when I set out to go shopping in real life. Is this something you do to?

What do you wear when you go shopping?

If I am shopping for clothing I most definitely try to wear items that are easy to slip in and out of (think leggings t-shirt and denim jacket/blazer of some sort – maybe even a little dress w/denim jacket over top).

When grocery shopping think sweats and a t. Might have to sample some items. haha

Car shopping (every 10 years) – totally dress down. look poor.

Shoe shopping – try to get a pedi before going and don’t wear a shoe that’s difficult to get in and out of (read no lace-up boots.) For apparel I try to wear a dress or a skinny jeans to get a good idea of what that shoe will look like day to day against my leg.

I definitely try to wear something comfortable and easy to get in and out of when shopping for clothes. Inevitably though, it’s the days I’m wearing some complicated outfit w/ lots of layers that I end up at a great boutique and “need” to try a bunch of stuff on!

I definitely dress down. I try to wear a loose skirt and soft cotton tees so I can slip in/out easily for faster changing. 😉

I wear the following: jeans, camisole, cardigan, flats/sandals
This is so I have my bases covered. If i find a cute t-shirt, i have jeans to see how it looks. A dress? I have the cardigan to see how it looks covered and camisole to make it more modest if it’s too low cut for work. Flats/sandals are just for comfort. Also the cami helps with whatever skirts I try on. This outfit is best for when I’m shopping for nothing in particular so that it’s versatile with whatever I try on 😀

I wear a dress and ballet flats most of the time. I hate changing clothes but at least with a jersey dress I can just slip it on and off in a second and try on what I need.

    Jeans and a t-shirt!

If I am shopping for clothes, a good bra!

Definitely a good nude bra and shoes without buckles or ties. When I’m personal shopping with a client, I try to dress up, but wear flats or boots so I can run around the store easily.

Also, I always carry a big bag with water and hand sanitizer!

Being comfortable is key. Jeans and a tee with flats or sandals. Too many layers and you will be in the fitting room for hours!

ha, mostly my pj’s cos I’m at home online, while my bub is asleep (shopping with a 1yr old = nightmare!!)! But if I venture out, usually jeans and flats, a decent bra that is good for when trying stuff on and a top thats easy to take off too.

I like wearing a tank top that I don’t have to take off with certain clothes. I also like wearing socks so I don’t have to be barefeet in the dressing room. Usually I don’t shop with uncomfortable shoes, or if I do I just browse and don’t get serious about it.

I almost always wear a dress when shopping. Its only one piece and easy to get in and out of. If its cold, then I add leggings and a cardigan or some type of jacket/ blazer. As for shoes, they have to be easily removable, so no buckles or laces, only zips, slides, or something equally as easy to slip off. As to appropriateness of where I’m shopping; I’m oblivious and will show up in upscale stores looking like I tumbled out of bed (oddly enough it doesn’t effect my experience if I dress up or down for upscale shopping), or the supermarket in a glam outfit. It all depends on my mood, if I feel like wearing it than I don’t care where I’m going, I’ll wear it! The funniest thing is living in suburbia where I frequently have to dodge daggers thrown at me because I refuse to don the suburban housewife mumsy uniform!
