For a long time, I resisted the 70’s look. I’m not sure why, I love 70’s music, 70’s movies and TV shows, and 70’s fashion on other people. But for me, it just didn’t click. This morning I decided to give it a go, with my flared Hudson Signature Boot Cut Jeans, and my denim jacket, and a floppy hat I picked up years ago. I have to say, that 70’s inspired is a lot different than 70’s. I’m sure my mother did not wear anything like this, though she did wear bell bottoms, sweater coats, clogs, and had hair like Cher.
When the weather starts getting cooler, and jackets and sweaters become a necessity, getting creative with layering becomes so important. I’ve always loved my denim jacket, but as it gets cooler, it doesn’t hold up. Thank goodness for layering thought, I got this chunky cocoon cardigan last year in Chicago, and it’s the warmest thing, I wore it underneath a wool coat and it kept me warm through the winter. Here, I layered it with a cropped denim jacket, which is great because denim both breathes and blocks out the wind. For layering denim jackets, the best way to do it is accentuate the sweater by picking something with a different length, shawl collar cardigans are great for that because you can really wrap the sweater around the denim jacket collar.
