I’ve learned a lot about my personal style while writing this blog. Not only have I mastered my denim sizing and figured out what shapes do and don’t work for my body – but I’ve learned quite a bit about everything I wear with my jeans, too. The shoes that make me look squat even in skinny jeans, the tops that look better un-tucked than tucked, and just how many layers I can get away with without looking like a marshmallow. After about 10 months of blogging about denim I think I can say one thing with complete certainty:
The sleeveless button down blouse is the perfect top.
I mean it. Sure, you have to find the one that fits you best, that doesn’t gape or pull, the one that tucks in perfectly. The beauty of such a top is in the versatility. Depending on the fabric, a button down shirt can be taken to just about any level of dressing up or down, and looks great with any type of tuck. Not to mention that the lack of sleeves make it perfect for layering throughout the year. In these warm and getting warmer months, a sleeveless button down add polish to your cutoff denim shorts on the weekends, and works on it’s own with basic or printed skinny jeans.
I find that pieces like this, with so much potential and wearability throughout the year, are worth investing in because you can create so many different outfits around it. The Equipment version version is a favorite of mine, but at $188 it’s definitely a commitment.
