Attacking the streets on a Saturday afternoon for some street style after everyone is in a lethargic brunch coma can be a bit tricky. It wasn’t a particularly nice day in NYC – you know, scattered showers and overcast sort of day. It’s also nearing summer so families are in town to watch their kids graduate and such so the amount of tourist walking about is insurmountable. Which is not really conducive to the native New Yorkers or transplants that like to call Manhattan their home, however it does make for some interesting finds as far as street walkers go.
I first found a pair of wide leg trousers walking down the street that I had to stop. The girl above was with a group of girl friends and didn’t particularly want to be bothered but she obliged. Besides the trousers catching my eye, her chunky sweater, cropped cream top (a favorite) and adorable fish bone braid did as well. Very 70s retro – I’m a fan of this day time casual look. What about you?
I then came across denim on denim – my favorite sort of pairing. Now this is an extremely casual look, but great for a lazy stroll around the city. I have to say that the tan oxford shoes really stood out, but also melded well with her palette as a whole. There’s something about oxfords and denim that just look lovely together. Oh, and motorcycle jackets are great too!
Finishing up this street style collective, I spotted an adorable couple clad in denim almost head to toe and couldn’t help myself. It’s funny how couples commonly seem to coordinate without even trying to. I really enjoyed her scarf and denim – notice the black and white pattern. Their attire is comfortable and cool, which is good for the weekend after a full work week.
And that’s a wrap – do you wear denim to brunch on the weekends too or do you tend to dress up?
