Quite A Pair: Neon and Denim

Over Memorial Day weekend I had a vision. Or rather, I saw a vision traipse past me in the sand on Indian Wells Beach in Amagansett. I could hardly lay back and soak in the sun because I was so transfixed with the parade of cover ups and swimsuits before my eyes. This girl stuck with me particularly though – she was wearing the most perfectly distressed cutoff shorts and a florescent pink, light as air button down shirt.

Whether it’s whited denim or a distressed light or medium wash, pairing it with a neon top strikes that ideal balance between bold and casual, bright and subdued. It’s no surprise that I am a sucker for a good button down, so many of my favorite neon pieces are as such. I love this Diane von Furstenburg sleeveless green shirt, and it would be perfect tucked in with white shorts. A yellow button down like this one from BLK DNM would work for work, and I think this Rory Beca fucshia top would give me the look of my mystery girl on the beach if worn with these J Brand shorts.
