Poll: Do you wear denim shorts?

The denim short trend came back a few years ago… I remember being reluctant to get on that particular bandwagon because, well the idea of short-shorts rather scared me, or to be more exact, the thought of me in denim shorts would scare other people. But lo and behold, I have a pair of denim shorts that I do wear quite frequently, yet, a lot of women seem to have the same reluctance I had to wear them.

The other day I was on the ferry and noticed a woman who pulled her jeans up to make shorts. She probably anticipated  a cooler day, but the denim-hack gave a nod to those of us reluctant to wear denim shorts even when it means boiling on a summer afternoon.

Thank goodness she wasn’t wearing skinny jeans, it might have ended in a heat-stroke for this lady.

I think they CAN be done super cute and nicely. I am looking into a few pairs that I would like to get. Its tricky, but I think there are certain looks and styles that can pull it off very well! 🙂 I hope to try and do it right LOL

I know what you mean it is so easy to go wrong with short shorts… I keep thinking if I wear them with tights or panyhose it will take off the edge. People always compliment me when I wear them, but I haven’t been able to get a good outfit pic yet.

I was reluctant too at first, but last summer I bought a pair and then I had to buy another because I was wearing them every other day. I did venture out and bought orange, blue and printed non-denim ones, but I keep wearing them and I know they will be much loved this summer.

I hear you on being a little leery of the denim shorts. I ended up getting a pair of Siwy and just ventured out slowly – first with a simple t and gladiators, then with a blouse and a nicer sandal. It all depends on the comfort factor because if I’m not comfortable it’s a no can-do. I’ve really warmed up to them and now they’re my favs. Highly recommend. 🙂

One thing that’s scary though: the denim short short. Yikes!

I wear them … even though I feel like kind of an ass sometimes.

Most definitely! I think the great thing about them lately is all of the different lengths and fits that are out there! Something for everyone…

I bought a pair of dark wash denim shorts a couple of summers ago, but they were so short that I’d only wear them at night with heels. I’m just too pale to wear shorts that short during the day. Sheesh.

I had been very anti-denim short for quite a few (like say, ten) years until a few days ago when the weather warmed up more than I had prepared for here in London and I ended up hacking off a pair of jeans and wearing the cut-offs non-stop for the next few days. I still feel a little bit awkward when I’m out in them plus I cut them kind of long so they are really dorky, but they’re really comfortable too so I live with it.

You can get an idea of how I wore them here: http://twofortheclothes.blogspot.com/2010/06/proof-of-life.html
but I don’t purport anything really inspiring. I definitely used the same method as the girl in your picture to figure out where I should cut them. Looks better on her. 🙂

I have a new (this year) really lightweight, perhaps denim pair of short shorts, and I don’t care that I have cellulite – I think REAL WOMEN need to show the world what a REAL WOMAN is and looks like!

    Who’s with me?!

    …. ….

    Crickets? 😉

Mallory – Pale is healthy, natural for some, and therefore beautiful!

(It doesn’t matter that this comes from an Irish woman, no!)

By the way, I suggest looking in the Juniors department for more feminine styles. When I shopped in a department store (gift card), the woman’s section had all plain or ugly jeans and shorts.

Mine have baggy-ish pockets (I think they look good with curves) and little ties on the sides.

I’m kind of surprised at how many denim shorts I see out here in Philly- we are a pretty casual city. The most popular look is rolled cuff mid-thigh shorts, paired with oversized striped tees, heavy duty metallic sandals, a cross body bag, and sunglasses.

even in my office…tons of denim shorts!
