When true winter arrives in NYC, I turn to Chicago for inspiration! Windy city residents have a way of surviving the deep chill in style, so photographer Amy Creyer’s street style shots at Chicago Street Style (far right) always inspire new ways to bundle up.
I’ve a huge fan of the versatility of a jean jacket (one of my first posts for this blog was on this topic, and I’ve revisited my all-time favorite look again here). You can easily pair a denim jacket with other denim colors (like Krystal’s red jeans), other textures, or tonal blues – as Amy’s find does perfectly. It’s easy to throw a vest in the mix, and ideal to top it off with a cape coat – so you can keep those not-so-warm-on-their-own pieces in rotation through deep winter with a little imagination.
Here’s one way to lay it on step-by-step, with four great pieces:
1. J Brand Slim Fitted Denim Jacket ($229)
2. Velvet Luella Faux Fur Vest ($165)
3. Madewell Scooter Jacket ($198)
4. MAXAZRIA Sleeveless Cape Coat ($327.60 – was $468)
Do you deep six your denim jacket for winter, or find ways to layer?
