Denim Trend: Saggy Bottoms, Baggy Boyfriends

Last week’s style style post on Crop Tops & Denim Shorts got me thinking – not about crop tops (those days are over), but about the silhouette of her denim shorts.  They were baggy in the leg, saggy in the crotch, and all around ill-fitting … but they struck me as perfect.

On a hot summer day, we’re often looking to strike a balance between I-don’t-care and cute, and a tighter denim short sometimes feels too come-hither for me.  As much as I disliked the boyfriend jean (not flattering), a boyfriend denim cut-off can be slimming in the right places.  The wide open leg does wonders, and they’re a great showcase for a statement belt … this tassle one would make the outfit with a white tee.

If you bought into the boyfriend jean trend and regretted it, here’s your chance to do an awesome D.I.Y. cut-off!  And if you’re looking for the perfect slouchy short, Blank Denim has one for under $50 (30% off) – personally, I’d buy these a size up and belt them.

What do you think?  Saggy for summer … or will you stick with a fitted look?
