Last week I had a moment looking at my computer screen when I literally said out loud to my office, “Wait, how have I never seen this before?” I was browsing See Jane, wide-eyed and bewildered. She has wildly similar taste to my own, posts delicious recipes, DIY projects and inspiring looks – not to mention she had guest posts from some of my other favorite bloggers; bloggers I know! Oh, and not to mention she has a denim wardrobe even I am jealous of. I immediately pinned Anna Jane down for an interview to dish about denim, and our mutual love for the J Brand 912 pencil jean.
What’s your denim philosophy?
I’m not sure if this is a philosophy or not, but I know I’ll be wearing denim for the rest of my life – it’s ageless.
What do you wear with your denim?
My denim-wearing knows no bounds; I dress it up, down, wear it on the bottom (jeans/shorts, obviously) and the top (jean jacket or denim shirt). For example, today, I’m wearing skinny jeans tucked into rain boots with a mustard sweater and a fur vest.
What are your favorite denim brands?
I’m a J Brand loyalist; it’s just the brand that fits my body the best. Although, I also enjoy Citizens of Humanity and BDG (Urban Outfitters).
Do you have a very favorite pair of jeans?
I do and it’s my J Brand 912 skinny jeans. I’ve had them for about 4 years now (although I got hooked on the brand in college) and they’ve never failed me. I always pull them out when I “have nothing to wear.”
Tell us a little about the jeans you wear the most often?
Although I have a favorite pair, I don’t necessarily wear them more than others. To keep things fresh, I like to rotate my different colored skinny jeans (many shades of blue with a couple colors now) with wide-leg and my recent acquisition of flares.
What’s on your denim wishlist?
More colored denim. I have red and brown but would definitely like more colors. I also wouldn’t mind that Current/Elliot leopard pair!
Do you remember the first pair of jeans you ever owned?
Wow, that’s a great question but I can’t say that I do because I know I wore them a lot growing up (particularly colored jeans–one of my favorite pairs was red). I do have a memory of the first pair of jeans I “had to have” and it was in 6th grade and it was a pair of boot-cut jeans (when flares/boot-cut was starting to make a comeback in the late 90s) from NY & Company. I wore those things into the ground!
