Sonia and I actually met long before I took the wheel here at Eat, Sleep, Denim. We met over brunch one spring morning to talk blog and gorge ourselves on Nutella crepes, and we’ve been friends ever since. Her blog, In Pursuit of Style, showcases her feminine, well-tailored wardrobe, never without a little sparkle. She’s also got one killer denim wardrobe, so I of course had to drill her with questions about her favorite jeans and what tops her wish list.
What’s your denim philosophy?
The more denim, the better! I am lucky enough to have a job where I can wear denim to work. Since I wear it so often, I believe in investing in good, classic denim pieces that can be washed and worn over and over.
What do you wear with your denim?
I like mixing proportions & textures with denim. If I am wearing a skinny jean, I will put it with an oversized top. If I am wearing boyfriend jeans, I will wear a more fitted top. Now that its cold, I love mixing my chunky knit sweaters with dark skinny jeans.
What are your favorite denim brands?
I live for my 7 For All Mankind skinny jeans – I must wear them at least once a week. I also love the fit of J Brand denim – it really conforms to your body. Also, Gap has really reinvented their denim with the 1969 collection – their denim leggings are to-die-for.
Do you have a very favorite pair of jeans?
My first ever pair of skinny jeans are probably my favorite – they were from H&M and I bought them when I was studying abroad in Prague many years ago – luckily, they still fit!
Tell us a little about the jeans you wear the most often?
I wear my 7 for All Mankind skinnies the most. They have an amazing amount of stretch in them, so I can eat as I please. They go with every outfit and are super lightweight. Magically, they seem to never lose their color, either!
What’s on your denim wish list?
I’ve been dying to get a pair of coated denim – I love the leather-ish look, and to be honest, they look sort-of waterproof – perfect for rainy or snowy days.
Do you remember the first pair of jeans you ever owned?
Yes! They were a pair of hunter green “easy fit” jeans – straight leg, but bunched all over. I thought they were the coolest, with a turtleneck (hey, I was 13!) and sneakers. Ew, I just cringe thinking about that look…
