Blogger Denim Style: Tropic Thunder

I absolutely loved Ann’s post last week about a vacation in a pant. These cool, photo-real prints are bright and bold, and totally eye-catching. As the floral trend has flourished and evolved, it’s taken on a bit of a tropical twist. Like I said yesterday, I am not a person who resorts, so sporting a tropic-inspired print in New York City requires a bit of an urban twist.

I love how these four bloggers have incorporated this botanical feeling into their denim looks. It’s not always a literal print of palm leaves and giant flowers, but, for example, both Sandra from 5 Inch And Up (second from the left) and Laura from On The Racks (bottom right) are channeling an easy and breezy feeling without a flower to be found. White jeans and a watercolor scarf? Done. Wide-brim hat and destroyed cutoffs? Certainly.

Liz from Late Afternoon paired a light wash, faded denim jacket (with great pinstripe detailing) with printed silk shorts and a festive Rebecca Minkoff bag, and Rachel from That’s Chic mixed a traditional tropical print with fun flower-printed skinny jeans.

Take yourself to the tropics with these Free People shorts, these DvF Loves Current / Elliott skinny jeans, or pair a floaty  piece like this or this with your white or light wash denim.
