Black on Faded Black Denim

In my week of showing you what denim I wear, record breaking heat waves hit my town. There’s climate change for you. Anyway, where I would normally be wearing jeans (the regular kind) this week, I’m wearing dresses, skirts, shorts and well, it’s only Thursday. Today I’m paying tribute to faded black denim. It’s really the best kind. Normally, I hate it when black fades, but with denim, black denim fades so nicely into a dark grey. It can be mixed with the blackest of blacks, or with any other shade of black. That way you mix your blacks without creating any fashion faux pas.

I’m still loving my Current/Elliott Dorothy skirt circa 2011  which, three years later, it really has held up quite nicely, both in fit and wash. I’ve recently added on a studded Current/Elliott Perfect Shirt to my wardrobe (can also be seen here) which is one of my favorite denim shirts both to wear as a button down and layered worn more like a jacket. My favorite part about the “Perfect Shirt” is that they use Jeans Buttons instead of regular or snap buttons, which give it that extra feeling of sturdiness. Great if you’re like me and always losing buttons.

Between the pencil skirt and the button down, this denim outfit is so ladylike! Of course you’ll need a pair of strappy sandals (Proenza Schouler)  and a satchel (3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli (gift)) to wear with this number.
