Birkenstocks and Denim

Let’s discuss. Birkenstocks. The trademark ‘hippie’ shoe is getting more attention in the fashion world than even the Phoebe Philo fuzzy monster that started the whole trend to begin with. And I’ll be honest — I’m fully, 100% on board. Comfy shoes that are all of a sudden acceptable to wear in public? Yes please. Bonus, I never thought Birks were that ugly to begin with. It was always the way you paired them that matters. If Tevas were the object of discussion we’d have a problem. But that isn’t the case. Back to how you pair your Birkenstocks. Denim isn’t the obvious pairing, as venturing into hippie land is hazardous, but after seeing these images I’m sold. I never thought I’d love the look of denim overalls and birkenstocks. Who know?

How do you feel about the Birkenstock craze? Would you wear yours with denim?

We are lovin’ the Birk & jean look. Thought you might like to see some custom sandals made on the B footbed. http://on.fb.me/122EhJz We have made a number of these and they are available in many different configurations. Best of both worlds – design and comfort. Can we talk about a feature on your blog?

I’m so happy that the huge platform nightmares that were so popular for so long are going out of fashion. Now I see women wearing them and cringe. It’s high time we see something “in” that we can actually walk in for more that one city block. Having said that, I’m not sure I can go all the way to birkenstocks. They look adorable on young women, and I certainly wore them when I was in my 20’s. But now I would have to make sure they were a more elegant design of birkenstock if i was to to go out on the town in them. But, never say never, right?

Haha I know! Platforms were the WORST! But I hear you on elegant shoes!
