The Spring/Summer 2012 shows are just past the halfway mark here in New York, and it’s thrilling to watch the trends emerge. Though for many designers jeans aren’t in the runway mix, that shouldn’t stop you from sleuthing out influences that might shift your denim look next season or before.
Personally, I like to get a head start and integrate Spring trends in Fall/Winter – which is definitely easier with denim looks. Plus, if you’re making your thrifting or sale season shopping list, it’s great to know what’s to come.
First up is the “true trouser” shown here at Jenni Kayne, Steven Alan and United Bamboo. I’ve been loving a comfortable trouser jean for a while so I’m happy to know this silhouette won’t be going anywhere.
I love this idea of a boxy, boyish denim or chambray shirt, shown here at ADAM, Steven Alan, and Band of Outsiders. It’s a great basic and would make a suit or blazer feel very fresh for work, while still staying within the rules if you have a no-denim office.
And now we turn our attention once again to the denim tuxedo! Well, not quite … Thankfully these looks at ADAM, Vivienne Tam and Peter Som run the gamut from chambray suiting to a creative mix that keeps the look modern. There’s more where these looks came from, so once again don’t hesitate to go head-to-toe blue.
What denim trends are you feeling right now? We’d love to hear your trend predictions!
