Denim Round Up: A Look Back at My Favorite Jeans of 2012

2012 has been a great year, and my first whole year at the seams of Eat, Sleep, Denim. I’ve had such a great time working on this site, getting to know so much about jeans and beyond, challenging myself to wear new things and learning the difference between skinny jeans and denim leggings, or flares vs. bell-bottoms. Let’s take a little trip down memory lane shall we, and revisit some of my favorite denim looks of 2012!

Printed denim: Printed denim was one of the biggest denim trends of the past year, maybe even two. I tried quite a few, and not all of them really suit me. What I learned? I love a good floral, and the color palette of the jean has to mix with staples and solid pieces I’ve already got.

Fun shapes for summer: I loved trying out some totally unfamiliar silhouettes and pieces during the summer, since long, skinny jeans feel way too constricting in that sweltering season. From short overalls to dresses, I learned just how versitile denim can be  – beyond our go-to cut off shorts.

New classics: During 2012 I tried so many different style and cuts of jeans, and found some shapes, washes and fits that are destined to become new classics in my wardrobe. An extra-slouchy jean is more wearable than you’d ever think, coated jeans that look like leather can dress up or down, white jeans have magic powers – and flares are unbeatable for a figure-flattering cut.

Happy New Year & Happy New Denim — see you in 2013!
