When you love denim as much as we do and probably drop some serious cash on your favorite pairs it becomes pertinent to care for your beloved denim in a proper way. So, the other evening, Jennine and I decided it was time to wash some of our premium denim. Since we live in NYC and neither of our pre-war walk-ups have a washer or dryer we took a trip to a Soho laundry mat.
We picked a spot that reminded me of a literal hole in the wall, but in NYC if you’re physically going to do your own laundry, often times, that’s what you’ll get…. Thank god for drop off services! However, like I said, these are our jeans we’re talking about so they get special care. After fiddling around with quarters, we carefully placed our piles of denim into a washer where we then added a miracle detergent made specially for premium denim! This aforementioned detergent is known as The Laundress Classic Denim Wash and it was worth our momentary hiatus at the dodgy little laundry mat.
We added three scoops for good measure then waited while they tumbled round in the tiny old fashion washer machine instagraming (in case you haven’t heard, we’re obsessed and if you still are unsure of what ‘instagraming’ is click here) all the while…and occasionally flipping through the only magazine we had with us at the time: Bullet.
In approximately 30 minutes, we were ready to unload the washer and flatten out our denim so there would be no die creases after washing. Immediately following, we packed up shop to take our now clean denim home to line dry. Needless to say, this was quite a fun little detour at the end of our day and my jeans looked brand new after drying so I was thrilled! Major thumbs up for The Laundress Classic Denim Wash.
