Denim Review: J Brand Mama J Maternity Jeans

J Brand Mama J Jeans Denim

I am six months pregnant, for the first time.

What I imagined was that only my stomach would pop out, and clothes would look cute on me. What happened was my body changed in a whole host of ways I had no idea was possible, and finding clothes that felt true to my style, especially since maternity clothes have a habit of looking like their from 2005. Knowing I wasn’t going to be pregnant forever, I purchased a pair of Old Navy jeans. They stretched and sagged, and didn’t look as flattering as my premium denim jeans, so I just decided to bite the bullet and buy the J Brand Mama J Jeans.

Looking at the website, I was scared the elastic or the waist band would cut into my waist, which during this time, it’s a definite no-go. But alas, they went on, and were so comfortable. Believe it or not, the first thing I said was, “Oh my god, I feel human again.” Which is hard to explain… but between being awkward, feeling weird, and having to wear weird clothes, putting on something that feels good that isn’t a pair of leggings is hard to come by.

I pretty much wore them every other day since I got them. As a midwash jean, they go with anything, they’re casual, but well fitted, so they can make any outfit work. I picked up some oversized shirts from H&M that were a bit trendy, but not expensive to offset the investment in the jeans as my pregnancy wardrobe. Here I’m mixing a grey leopard print button down, with an army jacket and leopard print booties. It’s a nice balance between edgy and comfortable.

You made me laugh when you said “What I imagined was that only my stomach would pop out, and clothes would look cute on me.” Ha! if only. That is the picture of ourselves we have in our minds before we actually experience pregnancy :-)

You look awesome!! Love that they have side panels instead of a large panel all over the front.

@Tuttibella Oh yes, J Brand is pretty much my standby pre-preg too!
@Elisa… I know they said it would happen, but I did not believe it! Anyway..the panels on the sides are great, I could probably wear them after as well, maybe? We’ll see!
