I’ll be the first to admit, blogging about denim has it’s perks. One of them is getting to visit events like Fashion Coterie and brand showrooms to see what stores will be stocking and everyone will be wearing in the coming seasons. I feel a bit like a child that peeks in the gift closet before Christmas – except I won’t get in trouble!
Last week before heading into the office I bopped uptown to check out the Spring/Summer 2012 collection from Hudson Jeans. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love the people that work in denim. I had such a nice time talking with Andia and Paige that I could have hunkered down amongst the denim racks and hung out all day!
By the looks of it, Spring is going to be the most technicolored season we’ve seen in ages. True, red is big right now, but just wait until the warmer months. Red will morph into vibrant raspberries and corals, olive green and cobalt will bloom into turquoise and sky blue, and mustard will fade to lemon yellow. Even the most timid and neutral dressers will be coaxed into color-blocking.
In addition to their standard line, I saw the latest offerings from Hudson Collection (pictured above and in the second photo). These pieces have a decidedly more rock-and-roll vibe, with zip-away leather details on shorts and hand-sewn patch-work flares made entirely of re-purposed denim from other pairs of jeans.
Their jackets were stand-outs among the rest of the denim, and I was completely taken with the above drapey-meets-moto-style linen piece as well as a black waxed-denim moto jacket that had the look of leather, without the weight.
A big thanks to Hudson for opening up their showroom to ESD![Photos by Nando Alvarez]
