I introduced you to denim maven Ulrich Conrad Simpson a few months ago when we talked about his line of jeans for big dudes called UBI-IND. At the time I hadn’t met him in person, but I could tell I would like him. I finally had the pleasure of confirming my suspicions about a week ago. I popped into his beautiful shop in San Francisco’s Mission district to say hi and check out his denim in person—he also carries a highly covetable selection of vintage denim, home goods and more. I went home with a vintage denim jacket because I really needed another denim jacket! OK that’s false, but it reminded me of a priceless jeans and vest outfit I had in 3rd grade (more on that soon).
I also got to check out his new line of kitchen accessories called Mi Cocina, which includes a beautiful apron with leather ties plus pockets to hold all your spatulas and knifes and such, an oven mitt, napkins, a hot pad and a pan handle holder. They’re all made in the U.S. of selvedge White Oak Cone Denim and brown Latigo leather They’ll all be available soon on the website; prices range from $15 to $185, and they’re just about the coolest gifts you can buy for the home chef on your list!
