Traveling Jeans: What to pack for your winter holiday

With the holidays here, many of you probably have traveling to do this week. Right now I’m in rural Germany, it looks like a Winter Wonderland outside! I’ve actually traveled a lot this year, and every time I’m amazed about how many jeans I take with me. Like shoes, I can’t seem to bring less than three pairs, unless I’m going to Hawaii, then it’s one pair of shoes to wear to get on and off the plane, and a pair of flip flops, hey, “When in Rome…”.

When it comes to jeans, it’s possible to get by with one pair…but if you’re staying longer than a week, and if you really like wearing jeans, one pair isn’t going to cut it. You’ll burn out on that pair by day three and by the time you get home you’ll put those jeans in the back of the closet for a few months. I’m only saying that because I’ve done it before. So which ones to bring?

Bring jeans that will work with the weather:

If I were going home to see my mom in LA, I’d bring a few pairs of bell bottoms, because it’s warm enough to wear heels, not too warm for pants, and of course all the driving means no walking and no worrying if I can make it that far in a pair of shoes. However, if I’m going see my mother-in-law in Bavaria near the Alps, where there’s 6 inches of snow, you bet I’m going to be packing denim leggings and skinny jeans to layer with a pair of tights and cashmere socks with my snow boots.

Bring a comfortable pair, and a nice pair:

If you’re traveling by air, by train, by car or even by bus… denim leggings are the best. They’re comfortable enough to sleep in and look fantastic.  And once you arrive at your destination, chances are there will be eating, laying on the sofa, and eating. There might be a few occasions when even I’ll have to look a bit more dressed up. Thank goodness nowadays you can wear jeans dressed up in almost any occasion (save weddings and funerals, even then, my mom wore light gray skinny jeans to her second wedding). My families are fairly casual, so a nice pair of jeans would suit any holiday occasion. Since I got the J Brand Waxed Denim Leggings they fit both dressy and comfortable, as do the Charley 5.0 3 Way Zip both look great with a pair of boots.

Bring Different Colors and Variations:

I have made the mistake of bringing 3 pairs of black denim leggings all slightly different, and ended up just wearing the one pair. Needless to say, don’t make that mistake. However, different color of jeans make all the difference. This time I brought a pair of blue denim leggings, a brown pair and a black pair. That seems to cover all my bases. Besides, with different color bottoms, you can get more looks by combining your tops.

You really are a convert to the denim leggings J! 🙂 I totally understand cuz, since I discovered them, I find it hard to wear anything else.

I just bought a pair of denim leggings on sale and I can’t wait to get them. I can just wear them 24/7.

Haha, yes, indeed, I do have a few pairs of regular skinny jeans, but really you can’t tell the difference except for the comfort when it comes to denim leggings or skinnies. It is hard to wear anything else!
